Rheinmetall and Lockheed Martin have unveiled the Fuchs JAGM combat vehicle, which is designed to counter a wide range of ground and air threats, Defence Industry reports.
The new aircraft is equipped with 24 AGM-179 Joint Air-to-Ground Missiles (JAGM) or Lockheed Martin AGM-114L HELLFIRE Longbow air-to-ground guided missiles. It can detect and engage up to 24 battle tanks or air targets in succession without reloading.
The JAGM missiles themselves have a range of up to 16 km and are equipped with a tandem cumulative fragmentation warhead. For guidance, a multi-mode homing head is used, which combines a semi-active laser and a millimeter radar. The missiles operate on the "fire and forget" principle. They can hit targets in any weather.
The missile system is carried by the Fuchs Evolution, the latest version of Rheinmetall’s 6×6 armored vehicle. The platform offers improved protection, a modern digital architecture, an improved powertrain, an integrated diagnostic system and an enlarged interior.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine received the first Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers from Latvia in the summer. In total, our country will receive 42 units of this and other equipment for a total amount of about 70 million euros.
