The military in one of the hottest areas received mortar shots with low-quality propellant powder charges, writes Viktor Bishchuk, a member of the Public Anti-Corruption Council of the Ministry of Defence (PARC MOU).

"There is such a component in the shots as gunpowder. Well, there are big questions about these powders. The powders, or packages of propellant charge - I'll write it so that they don't get banned - are "of extremely low quality". I quote the guys: "During the shot and adjustment, the mine behaves uncontrollably (overflight, underflight). With identical sight settings, the difference in range reached 500 meters. The powders were unpacked before firing," he noted.

Bishchuk added that with such an error, it is shooting at point blank range, which is especially bad in the conditions of the enemy offensive on this section of the front.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that 120-mm mines have been at the center of a scandal. Last year, one of the state defense enterprises shipped tens of thousands of mines with low-quality components to the military, and also disrupted the delivery dates of ammunition under a contract with the Ministry of Defence. The Ministry of Strategic Industries reported that all defective mines had been replaced, and the plant's management was detained by the SBU.

And in early May, photos of unknown, low-quality 120-mm mortar mines appeared. The Ministry of Strategic Industries and Ukroboronprom reported that the mines depicted were not of Ukrainian production, so they were either defective imported products or military aid from partners.
