Germany is planning to increase the number of unmanned systems in its Armed Forces, Loyal magazine reported, citing its own sources.

The Bundeswehr plans to increase the number of UAVs to more than 8,000 by 2029. At the same time, the German armed forces currently have only 600 drones. This will be in addition to the general expansion of the army, which includes massive purchases of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and other armored vehicles.

According to the source, it is planned to purchase 1,200 mini-drones for the immediate area and another 3,028 mini-drones for the immediate area. In addition, the plans include 800 repeater drones. There is also talk of supplying 1,424 loitering munitions.

The Bundeswehr now has a drone strategy, which is currently being discussed with industry, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said, adding that the army needs flexible contracts and ongoing procurement that will allow it to quickly implement the latest technical developments.

It was previously reported that the US wants to launch an Amazon - like platform this fall that will allow the US military to purchase drones and other equipment directly from manufacturers.
