The German Navy plans to strengthen its fleet with three "large unmanned missile ships" (Large Remote Missile Vessels or LRMVs), Hartpunkt reports.

According to the publication, these three ships are planned to be put into operation by 2035 , says the brochure "Kurs Marine". As for the LRMVs themselves, they will actually be a kind of missile carriers, which are located vertically in the hull. Such ships should provide air and missile defense at sea, for this they will receive SM-2 or SM-6 missiles. LRMVs are planned to be used in the Atlantic, where weather conditions are quite severe.

At the same time, the missile carrier will not be equipped with its own radars; other ships, such as the future F 127-class frigates, will likely be used for targeting. That is, the LRMV will potentially accompany other ships.

These plans are still in the early stages of development, so details regarding the ships' displacement and number of launch containers have not yet been provided.

In addition, the German Navy has been planning for some time to acquire 18 unmanned surface vessels, known as "future combat surface systems" ( FCSS), to complement its corvettes, as well as at least 12 large unmanned underwater vehicles (LUUVs) to support submarines.

Earlier, Ukrainian company Toloka showed three underwater drones with AI and swarm mode that will go into production. The largest model can operate autonomously for up to three months and carry up to 5 tons of payload.
