The Verkhovna Rada has closed access to information and locations of defense enterprises in registers, the National Association of the Defense Industry of Ukraine (NAUDI) reported.
This is project No. 11533 "On Amendments to the Civil Code of Ukraine and Certain Other Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Features of Providing Information on Public Electronic Registers, the Holder of which is the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, and Certain Other Public Electronic Registers", submitted by members of the Committee on Legal Policy.
"Today (August 21 - ed.) The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a bill that restricts access to information about the location of real estate and land plots of defense enterprises," the specialized Association said in a statement.
The document also provides for the closure of the Unified State Register of Information on defense industry companies and intellectual property objects related to the spheres of national security and defense.
NAUDI noted that during the discussions of the draft law, the Association emphasized the need to protect critical defense infrastructure - especially in conditions of war and numerous threats to the security of the defense industry.
They are convinced that the adoption of the document increases the security of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex and creates conditions for the reliable functioning of enterprises during war.
At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada website, citing the author of the bill, Igor Fris, states that the new rules are a compromise between two key values: transparency and security. It is argued that the solution works in the interests of citizens, entrepreneurs, and strengthening the state in times of war.
