Ukrainian VR simulator manufacturer Logic7 presented a simulator for practicing shooting down FPV drones at the Brave1 Defense Tech Valley 2025 exhibition.

There are several ways to physically destroy FPV drones on the front line: net guns, shotguns, and assault rifles with special cartridges. The company chose a shotgun as the basis for its simulator.

"With the help of this simulator, you can practice everything that is needed for any means of kinetic drone destruction  target finding, identification, training in firing at a point of advance. Whether you are shooting with a shotgun, a machine gun, or a sitcom  the algorithm of actions is very similar," a company representative told Defense.

The simulator is based on a real gun, which contains trigger and reload sensors, and a controller that tracks the gun's position. All of this is connected by software to VR goggles and headphones.

Thus, during training, the soldier holds a real gun in his hands and shoots at virtual FPV drones, which he sees through his goggles and hears through his headphones. The stereo sound, which seems to come from different directions and with different volumes as the target approaches, trains the soldier to react to it.

The mechanism for simulating recoil when shooting has not been implemented, but according to the developer, the sight still goes off after the shot thanks to the "physical" reloading mechanism.

"In real life, a pellet flies in a certain "cloud" that spreads over a distance. But this "cloud" is not continuous. We have a mathematically programmed flight trajectory for each pellet that flies out of the barrel. If one of them hits the drone, a hit is recorded. But the drone can fly past this "cloud", and then there is no hit," explains a representative of Logic7.

The instructor can adjust the drone's speed, maneuverability, direction, weather conditions, number of drones and ammunition. The virtual drone itself flies along a random trajectory taking into account the real physics of flight. According to the developer's idea, the element of randomness does not allow a person to get used to a single tactic and teaches him to orient himself immediately on the spot.

"We are currently finalizing a simulator for an FPV drone. We will add the ability for the drone operator and the person shooting at it to work together. It will be a kind of live competition," the interlocutor added.

The simulator itself was made mobile. When packed, it is two small suitcases. It also does not require external power. Several hundred such guns have already been made. One set costs 200 thousand UAH.
