Lockheed Martin is developing a new unmanned aerial vehicle, Vectis, for combat operations in difficult conditions, the company said in a statement.
The device will be able to integrate with fifth-generation aircraft, in particular the F-35, and will be able to operate in a group within the Family of Systems concept. Thanks to the MDCX control system, the drone can be added to a single command and control network.
Vectis will be able to conduct strike missions and deliver precision strikes, conduct reconnaissance, perform electronic warfare tasks, and participate in defensive and offensive operations.
It is noted that the drone will have an extended range, which will allow it to operate effectively in the areas of operation of the Indo-Pacific, European, and Central Commands.
According to the manufacturer, a team has already been formed and components for the drone have been ordered. It is noted that it will receive stealth technology.
Previously, Rheinmetall and Lockheed Martin presented a ground combat vehicle that can destroy up to 24 tanks in a single salvo.
