Lithuanian weapons manufacturer Granta Autonomy has introduced the X-WING loitering munition for pinpoint strikes on targets, writes Militarnyi.
Testing of the UAV began in the spring, and now the drones are being transferred to the front for additional testing to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"A small series of X‑WINGs is currently being manufactured and delivered for additional trials to frontline units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Continuous operational use at the front is being used as part of the system’s validation," said Gediminas Guoba, SEO and founder of Granta Autonomy.
The company plans to reach a production capacity of several hundred units per month in early 2026. The X-WING drones themselves take off and land vertically (VTOL) like a quadcopter, but the bulk of the flight occurs horizontally on the wings. This simplifies deployment without the use of special infrastructure.
"An endurance/range of 50 km is the initial specification, which will be improved. However, we will consistently balance the extended capabilities of the X‑Wing with its production cost," said Gediminas Guoba.
The drone's warhead is designed to destroy armored and unarmored targets, as well as radars.
The UAV is equipped with a powerful camera. Which works day and night (thermal imaging mode). The system can operate in the absence of GNSS. The guidance system has elements of artificial intelligence, and the drones themselves can operate in swarm mode.
The characteristics of the drone are as follows:
· Type: VTOL loitering munition
· Weight/payload: ≈12 kg total weight / 4 kg warhead
· Range: up to 50 km
Speed : > 40 m/s
· Sensor: daytime optics + thermal imager (Granta micro-gimbal), works without GNSS
· Communication: Granta Datalink - compatibility with ground stations
Price (target): < 10,000 euros in mass production
In early October 2025, MGI announced that it would send strike drones to Ukraine that can strike at a distance of 250 km. These drones, called SkyShark, will be deployed in Ukraine within six weeks.
