The Australian company Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has presented its version of a laser weapon against UAVs, according to the resource lnginnorthernbc.ca.
We are talking about the 150 kW Apollo system, which can shoot down 20 to 50 drones per minute.
"UAS (unmanned aerial systems) now use contracted such as rapid maneuvers, rotation, thermal insulation and reflecting coatings – tactics that make swarms large more difficult to track and combat. Apollo evolved over more than a decade To face this challenge, offering precision combat, high levels of power and continuous firing capacity to defeat these increasingly complex threats," the company said in a statement.
According to the publication, the Apollo system can be deployed in less than two hours, and firing laser beams is much cheaper than missiles, which cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is also noted that Apollo is designed to integrate with NATO command and control (C2) systems and integrated air defense systems (IADS).
It was previously reported that many foreign manufacturers of UAVs, laser weapons, and missiles wanted to test their products in Ukraine.
