Ukraine is preparing its first heavy remote demining complex for mass production

- 9 May, 12:51 PM

The first heavy remote demining complex "GART 5100" manufactured by the Ukrainian engineering company XTI Engineering has passed the state certification procedure and is being prepared for serial production. The Ministry of Defence reports this.

The certificate was issued by the State Research Institute for Testing and Certification of Armaments and Military Equipment.

"The machine is designed to neutralize various types of mines and other explosive objects by detonating and destroying them with hammers of a chain saw or a milling cutter," the report says.

The Ministry of Defense noted that this is a completely domestic development and production. All stages of production are carried out in Ukraine - this simplifies logistics, ensures fast delivery, maintenance and repair.

"GART 5100" is remotely controlled at a distance of 600 m, which ensures the safety of the operator. If a repeater is installed, the safe distance can be increased to over 1 km. The complex has a camera system with a wide viewing angle.

The machine's operating speed is 1.5 km/h. In one light day, it is capable of clearing over 2 hectares of areas contaminated with explosives. The depth of clearing is 300 mm. Interchangeable equipment allows you to adapt the work to different types of soil.

The Ministry of Defense recently reported that an industrial UAV with a magnetometer is being used to demine the Mykolaiv region. The system can detect explosive objects not only on the surface of the soil, but also underground.
