North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has ordered the construction of the country's largest military factory, Newsweek reported, citing satellite analysis by Planet Labs.
The new enterprise is located next to a large military facility, but the new plant will significantly exceed it in scale. It can meet the needs of not only the DPRK army, but will also work for export to the Russian Federation.
As noted in a comment to BILD, the head of the Korean office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Seoul, Frederick Spohr, noted that arms supplies to Russia have become a key source of income for Pyongyang.
"After the Ukrainians disabled some of the Russian strategic bombers, Moscow may rely on ground-based ballistic missiles. Such missiles, in particular the KN-23, are supplied by North Korea," Spor noted.
It should be noted that cooperation between North Korea and Russia is only gaining momentum. In early June, the head of the GUR Kirill Budanov said in an interview with "The War Zone" that the Kremlin would help Pyongyang establish production of Shaheds on its territory.
