The Indian Army has received a patent for a local system for automatic target classification based on artificial intelligence, according to the Military AI website.

The system uses hardware sensors and software algorithms to analyze radar signals and automatically recognize objects without human intervention. The publication notes that these are various targets, including aircraft, transport vehicles and even personnel. The novelty works with any radar.

It is emphasized that such a system allows for real-time decision-making, reduces errors, and generally improves situational awareness on the battlefield. The author of the system is Colonel Kuldeep Yadav, as indicated by the account of the Directorate General of Public Information of the Indian Armed Forces.

In 2023, Yadav patented an AI-based accident prevention system that detects driver drowsiness and issues real-time alerts, a tool aimed at preventing road accidents.

The patent itself fits into India's national initiative "Atmanirbhar Bharat", aimed at stimulating local innovation and reducing dependence on imports.

It is important to note that this is only a patent, not a ready-made technology that can be applied on the battlefield.

It was previously reported that Ukrainian company Swarmer has raised $15 million to develop swarm drones with AI. This will allow UAVs to operate autonomously.
