Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, reported that artificial intelligence is actively used in military intelligence to process large amounts of data. He stated this during the international forum "Information Warfare: From Resistance to Resilience", Ukrinform reports.
According to Budanov, AI is mainly used to work with databases, where the volume of information reaches millions of gigabytes. He noted that without an automated system, finding the necessary data would be extremely difficult. Currently, AI is coping with this task "more or less."
At the same time, the head of intelligence noted that in the field of weapons, "serious progress" in the use of AI has not yet been observed.
"I believe that it will be, but it is not there yet. As for the individual elements used in drones, such as guidance and so on – yes, but this is far from what everyone thinks about," Budanov said.
The head of the GUR added that he does not rule out the appearance of a real combat robot within the next ten years, as artificial intelligence systems are currently developing rapidly.
Today, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are increasingly using AI-powered remote control technologies for drones. For example, recently, the Ukrainian-Estonian startup Ark Robotics presented the Frontier System control system, which allows you to control drones from thousands of kilometers away. The platform uses artificial intelligence to reduce human involvement in operations and provides real-time video and telemetry transmission with end-to-end encryption.
