Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot announced that his country will provide Ukraine with several F-16 fighter jets as early as September this year. He stated this on August 26 during a press conference in Odessa, Novini.LIVE reports.
According to Prevot, Belgium has already trained more than 3,000 Ukrainian military personnel, including pilots and technicians. He also added that Belgium will ensure the operation of mine-clearing vessels and drones at sea by 2029.
Belgian officials had previously reported a possible delay in the delivery of the F-16s until 2026, in anticipation of the arrival of new F-35 aircraft. However, in May, the country's Defense Minister Theo Francken announced his intention to accelerate the delivery.
In May 2024, it was reported that Belgium would transfer 30 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine by 2028.
