The Defense Procurement Agency has contracted tens of thousands of interceptor drones, said Arsen Zhumadilov, director of the Defense Procurement Agency, in an interview with Babel.
"Tens of thousands. This is what we have already contracted, and we will continue to contract. Our contracting now, on the one hand, rests on the manufacturer's capacity, and on the other hand, on the capacity of the state budget. We will definitely contract everything that the state budget is capable of," he said.
According to the director of the AOZ, "if a delta arises" and the manufacturer is able to produce it, there will be contracting either according to the Danish model or directly with partner countries, so that these drones are transferred as international technical assistance.
By the way, according to the Danish model, EU countries finance contracts with Ukrainian manufacturers for the production of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Recently, the head of the KMVA, Timur Tkachenko, announced the launch of a "full-fledged" system for intercepting enemy drones flying over Kyiv. According to him, UAH 260 million will be allocated for the implementation of the initiative.
He explained that the capital is attracting more funds for the implementation of the large-scale "Clean Sky" project, which involves protecting airspace with the help of domestic interceptor drones. The money will be directed not just to the purchase of equipment, but to the creation of an effective response system.
The head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, said that the "Clear Sky" project appeared in the Kyiv region four months ago. It employs 12 crews.
