The 412th Separate Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Regiment "NEMESIS" unmanned systems has already hit 2,500 Russian howitzers and guns since the beginning of 2024. This was reported on the regiment's social networks.
The unit says that artillery continues to be an effective and efficient tool for destroying the enemy, although the role of drones is becoming dominant on the battlefield. As for artillery, it is used to support infantry assaults, destroy fortifications and logistical routes.
"A significant part of the enemy's artillery strikes occur within the framework of fire preparation for the offensive. Defeating artillery with unmanned systems allows us to disrupt the enemy's plans and reduce his ability to conduct offensive actions," explained Serhiy "Skalun" Skalun, an officer of the 412th Nemesis Regiment.
He also emphasized that artillery is a fairly effective weapon, especially in difficult weather conditions. In other words, artillery can fire in rain, fog, and strong winds. Artillery shells are not affected by any electronic warfare or air defense systems. Drones cannot boast of this.
The downside of artillery is that any shot automatically unmasks the gun's firing position and makes it a target for drones. Therefore, the enemy actively hides and protects its weapons.
"The enemy builds protective structures in the form of so-called "braziers", installs anti-fragmentation protection, uses early warning systems. We, accordingly, adapt to the tactics of use, the logistics of artillery units. If the enemy changes tactics, we change approaches to detection and destruction," added a serviceman of the 412th Nemesis Regiment, a former commander of an artillery unit with the call sign "Pegasus."
He also explained that classic battle formations provide for a distance between guns of 25 to 100 meters, but due to the active operation of UAVs, the enemy was forced to increase this distance.
And Serhii "Skalun" emphasized that with increasing distance between orders, logistics become more complicated. This leads to a decrease in the density of fire on certain sections of the battlefield and disrupts the general plan of action in specific areas . Thus, systematic artillery hunting changes the picture of the battle.
It is important to note that many drone targets are identified through interaction with other units of the Defense Forces. For example, this is the rapid exchange of intelligence and coordination of actions of several UAV units, which allows them to detect and effectively engage enemy artillery.
Recall that earlier in Iiskiv, the Nemesis drone was shown in action, which carries up to 12 kg of explosives and is controlled via the Internet.
