Taiwanese company TSMC is actively expanding its presence in the US and its production capacity is already fully booked by major technology giants such as Apple and NVIDIA. This is reported by WccfTech with reference to Taiwan Economic Daily.
The growing demand for TSMC's US manufacturing capacity is due to companies' desire to avoid the geopolitical risks associated with manufacturing in Taiwan. In addition, manufacturing in the US allows for government support, which has become an important factor for investors.
TSMC has made significant investments of over $100 billion to expand its U.S. factories and introduce advanced manufacturing technologies. The company plans to launch production of the A16 (1.6nm) process technology and provide up to 30% of the world's 2nm chip supply in the U.S. In addition, the company intends to open an R&D center and a new advanced packaging facility.
This strengthens the US position as an important player in the semiconductor industry and creates competition for Intel, which previously dominated this market.
