Yahoo! Japan will begin requiring all 11,000 of its employees to use artificial intelligence in their daily work, as the Japanese company aims to double employee productivity by 2028, TechRadar reports.
As part of the new strategy, the company wants to make artificial intelligence a common element in research, meeting documentation, management, analytics, etc. In this way, Yahoo! Japan wants employees to focus more on higher-level thinking and communication, rather than on routine daily tasks.
According to the company’s internal estimates, 30% of employees’ working time is spent on tasks like searching, drafting, and routine documentation, which can be handled by AI. They are also developing internal tools like SeekAI to help with cost management and data retrieval.
The new strategy envisions that AI will not only help reduce costs but also improve productivity. As a result, AI should become a standard tool in Yahoo! Japan's workforce, not replace it, which is a major concern for employees around the world.
By the way, according to previous studies, only 16% believe that artificial intelligence is useful in their work and only 8% of employees in American companies use AI on a daily basis. Earlier, the CEO of Anthropic stated that AI will increase unemployment by 10-20% over the next 5 years, and a LinkedIn study showed that the new technology is already having a negative impact on entry-level jobs.
