Xiaomi has released the third generation TV Box S media player
Xiaomi has announced the release of an updated version of its TV media player, the new model has the traditional name - TV Box S (3rd Gen).
The new product has a slightly updated design and a more modern platform: the TV Box S (3rd Gen) is based on the Amlogic S905X5M chipset, which, according to the manufacturer, has a CPU that is 25% more powerful than the Amlogic S905X4 used in the second-generation model, and a GPU that is 130%.
The storage capacity has increased from 8 GB to 32 GB, and Wi-Fi 6 support has also appeared. However, the RAM capacity has not changed - as before, it is only 2 GB, which has already caused a wave of dissatisfaction among users - as well as the fact that the TV Box S (3rd Gen) again lacks an Ethernet port.
The player is powered by Google TV, has a Bluetooth remote control with voice control, supports 4K@60 fps video and Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats. Of the connectors, there is only one HDMI 2.1 and one USB 2.0. The dimensions of the case are 97×97×17 mm, weight – 91.2 g.
The price of the TV Box S (3rd Gen) has not yet been disclosed, but given the minimal differences from the second-generation model, it can be assumed that it is unlikely to change significantly and will be approximately $70 in the US and €70 in Europe.
