Xiaomi tests sports version of YU7 electric crossover at Nurburgring
Xiaomi has begun testing a sports version of its electric crossover YU7 at the legendary Nurburgring racetrack, writes ArenaEV.
This model could be called the YU7 GT. According to Chinese sources, the company will abandon the tradition of using the Ultra designation for the most powerful cars, as was the case with the SU7 sedan.
Whatever the final name, the new model will receive the same powertrain as the SU7 Ultra: 1,548 horsepower and 1,770 Nm of torque. Exterior features include 21-inch wheels and six-piston yellow brake calipers. The design remains quite restrained for a sports car: widened wheel arches, an enlarged roof spoiler and larger air intakes in the lower part of the bumper. However, due to dense camouflage, most of the details remain hidden for now.
Xiaomi is expected to introduce the YU7 GT by the end of 2025, with first deliveries starting in the second quarter of 2026. The company is undoubtedly planning to officially test the new product on the Nurburgring and set a new record among SUVs.
Recall that in June 2025, the SU7 Ultra sedan already became the fastest production electric car to lap the Nurburgring. Its prototype set the absolute record for four-door cars on the same German ring in October 2024. Now the company is aiming to repeat its success in the SUV segment.
