Microsoft is testing another Copilot button in Windows 11. In the latest Insider Preview build, when you hover over an open window on the taskbar, a "Share with Copilot" option appears. It allows you to transfer the contents of the window to Copilot Vision, which analyzes the image on the screen. The Verge writes about this.
The feature works with any application and allows you to quickly parse data in Excel, identify an object in a photo, or get help with the music that is playing. Copilot can not only provide basic information, but also break down complex topics into simpler steps.
Microsoft emphasizes that this is an experiment, and the button may disappear from future builds depending on user feedback. Another feature that appeared in the same Insider Preview version is the translation of text on the screen via Copilot. If you highlight text in a language other than the system language, the user will receive a translation tip.
Over the past year, the company has literally saturated Windows with Copilot buttons — they're already in Paint, Notepad, the taskbar, the Edge browser, on keyboards, and even on the cases of some PCs. The new experiment only underscores Microsoft's strategy of making Copilot available everywhere on the system, even if users don't always want it.
Although officially positioned as simplifying access to AI functions, such a large number of Copilot buttons seems more intrusive than useful.
