After the failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, WB Games is preparing another live-service project, this time from the WB Games Montreal studio, writes Forbes.

This is evidenced by a new vacancy for the position of executive producer, published on the company's website. It states that the candidate will be responsible for the development of "a AAA game based on one of the iconic Warner Bros. and DC Comics brands". At the same time, the key task will be to "manage the live-service strategy and post-release content to ensure ongoing player engagement."

WB Games Montreal is known for Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights. While the latter project received mixed reviews, its structure was close to a cooperative, but not a full-fledged live-service game. The new vacancy indicates the company's desire to develop a service model.

Recall that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League by Rocksteady was a failure — the project received critically low ratings, demonstrated weak sales and audience retention, and total losses, according to unofficial data, reached $200 million. However, the head of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, continues to insist on developing live-service games, even despite the failed examples of Marvel's Avengers and Suicide Squad.

The vacancy does not specify which DC brand is in question. Earlier, there were rumors that Rocksteady was working on a classic Arkham-style game, but it is not known whether this work is related to the WB Montreal project. The now-closed studio Monolith Productions was also creating a game about Wonder Woman. It is also worth mentioning the words of the director of the new Superman James Gunn, who stated that he wants to integrate video games into the new DCU cinematic universe - it is quite possible that the upcoming WB Montreal project will be part of this strategy.

Developing live-service games in 2025 is risky, especially given the general audience fatigue with such models. Games like Suicide Squad not only failed to maintain regular content, but also had plot decisions that were not liked - for example, killing members of the Justice League, such as the Flash or Batman, who were later revealed to be clones.

It is currently unknown when exactly the new game will be announced.
