Warner Bros. Cancels Development of Hogwarts Legacy DLC – Bloomberg
Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. has canceled a planned expansion for its popular game Hogwarts Legacy as part of a restructuring of the company's gaming division, Bloomberg reports.
The expansion was supposed to expand on the original game's storyline and was scheduled for release in 2025 alongside the Definitive Edition of the game. There has been no official confirmation of this information from Warner Bros. yet.
According to the publication, Warner Bros. canceled the project due to concerns that the amount of content was too small to justify the price considered, according to anonymous sources.
It's another step by Warner Bros. in its bid to return its games division to profitability after a dismal 2024. The company fired the division's head, shuttered three internal studios and canceled a Wonder Woman game. The company said it plans to focus on its biggest franchises, such as Harry Potter and Mortal Kombat.
The expansion was developed by Avalanche Software in collaboration with Rocksteady Studios. It was intended to bring back content that was cut from the original game. However, Avalanche is continuing to work on Hogwarts Legacy 2.
