At the Asia Pacific Sustainability Expo 2025, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) showcased honey under the brand name "Ji Mi" made by bees living near its manufacturing facilities in Taiwan, WccfTech reports, citing Liberty Times. The project was implemented in collaboration with local beekeepers and Tunghai University.

According to the company, the initiative was made possible by environmental measures aimed at preserving the natural environment around the factories. The company, as the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer, consumes significant amounts of natural resources, including water and land, and claims responsibility for minimizing its impact on the local ecosystem. TSMC reported that thanks to the implementation of "green" technologies, it was possible to restore the populations of some endangered species of animals and plants in areas near its factories.

Particular attention is paid to water resources, which are critical for technological processes such as lithography, etching, deposition and polishing of wafers. The company notes that the water reuse rate in 12-inch factories currently reaches 90%. In addition, by 2030 it is planned to increase the proportion of fresh water replacement with recycled water to 30%.

The honey presentation was a public demonstration of the results of these environmental programs. The product comes in several flavors and symbolizes the restoration of the natural balance in the industrial zones where TSMC's production facilities are located.
