The community single-handedly brought The Crew back to life
On March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down The Crew servers, making the game completely unavailable to all players who had purchased it and any add-ons. This sparked a backlash online, a lawsuit against the company, and helped popularize the Stop Killing Games movement, which fights to preserve games.
Despite numerous online reviews, Ubisoft has made no announcements about restoring the servers for The Crew. As a result, the community took the initiative into its own hands and created The Crew Unlimited, a project that brings back the multiplayer game that was only available online.
The Crew Unlimited team created special server emulators even before the game's official closure, and after March 2024 began work on an offline mode.
To launch The Crew, you will need to download the TCU Launcher, which will patch and manage the game files and saves. The launcher itself is available on the official project website. However, players will have to search for the game files to launch on their own.
Recall that although Ubisoft did not respond to requests to return the first The Crew, stating that players had no reason to believe they owned the game, the company announced that the sequel, The Crew 2, will receive an official offline mode by the end of 2025.
