Australia is recalling more than 7,000 Tesla Model Y crossovers from 2025 due to a software flaw in the driver's side automatic window protection system. In a worst-case scenario, the problem could cause physical injury to a person, The Guardian reports.
The recall was announced by the Australian Federal Department of Transport. The problem was found in 7,301 electric vehicles.
"Due to a software issue, the driver's side automatic window protection system may not function properly, causing the window to close with excessive force against any obstruction, such as a body part," the agency said in a statement. "If a body part is in the window space when the driver's side window is closed, this could increase the risk of injury."
Tesla will contact owners of electric vehicles affected by this malfunction. At the same time, it can be fixed by installing a software update. By the way, a similar problem already occurred in 2022 in the US, when the company recalled almost 1.1 million cars, including Model 3 and Model S.
Earlier this year, Tesla also recalled more than 46,000 Cybertruck electric pickup trucks because the decorative panel that covers the top of the body began to fall off.
