OpenAI's Sora, a standalone AI video creation tool, is now available to iOS users in several countries. While it requires a separate registration, using the same email or phone number as ChatGPT will mean that deleting one account will automatically delete the other.
This discovery was shared on social media by user X @PaulYacoubian, who tried to delete his Sora account. Instead of completing the process, he received a warning that the ChatGPT account and all its history would be deleted immediately.
Moreover, if users inadvertently delete their account, they will not be able to use the same email address or mobile number to register again. Access to ChatGPT via the API will also be suspended.
This situation is likely due to the fact that when registering with Sora, a ChatGPT account is automatically created, or if one already exists, it is merged. This could be an attempt by OpenAI to artificially increase the number of users, or simply a technical error by the developers, which will be fixed later.
Recall that OpenAI previously introduced a new model, Sora 2, which can create even more realistic video clips.
