According to analysts, Hollow Knight: Silksong has sold approximately 3.2 million copies on Steam since its release. Before its release, the game was in high demand and was among the most desired games on the platform with 4.8 million users adding it to their "wishlist", writes Eurogamer. For comparison, the original Hollow Knight sold 15 million copies in 7 years.
Analysts estimated that the Steam version brought Team Cherry over $50 million in revenue; the rest of the users were provided by sales on consoles and the Xbox service. At the start, Silksong topped Valve's weekly chart, ahead of all AAA releases of the season.
According to GameDiscover, Team Cherry also sold 500,000 copies on PlayStation and Switch, and on Xbox, thanks to Game Pass, the game was downloaded about 1.5 million times.
Another factor in success was the price tag — $20 instead of the expected $30+. The studio chose exactly this price for all platforms, which sparked a discussion in the industry about "dumping" amid the growing budgets of independent projects.
As a reminder, Silksong is available on PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox and continues to increase sales.
