The launch of the Apple Vision Pro in 2024 was accompanied by rumors that Samsung was developing a competing device. They were officially confirmed not so long ago, and the company demonstrated a prototype in January of this year. Now, CNBC has received confirmation from the company that Samsung plans to release the XR headset in 2025.

The Apple Vision Pro-like device, codenamed Project Moohan, is called an XR headset by Samsung — meaning extended reality. And while the company is still not revealing details, the prototype can be seen to feature at least four cameras and possible touch control zones on the sides.

It is also no secret that the development is being carried out together with Qualcomm and Google, and the device will run Android XR. This also implies that the system will have support for Google Gemini, which will allow owners to experience a "conversational user interface". It is also possible that, like the Vision Pro, Project Moohan will also support gesture control.

However, unfortunately, there is no exact release date or at least a presentation yet. As well as a hint at the cost of the device. The Apple Vision Pro headset, despite not very high sales, has not changed its price and still costs from $3,499, gradually expanding the geography of availability. What the price tag of Samsung Project Moohan will be is also unknown.

Recall that at the same time, Samsung is developing AR glasses .
