Many smartphone manufacturers have long offered a double-tap feature on the back for quick actions like turning on the flashlight or launching the camera, and Samsung is set to introduce this feature soon, according to Android Authority.
Samsung smartphones already support this gesture, but only through third-party apps. However, in the One UI 8.5 build, we found a hint of its official support: the system code contains lines marked "double_back_tap" , which indicates a possible native implementation of the function.
The system code also revealed a list of actions that can be performed by double-tapping:
- AI Select (calling artificial intelligence functions);
- turning the flashlight on or off;
- opening notifications;
- launching the application;
- activation of privacy mode;
- opening quick settings;
- creating a screenshot.
Earlier, another One UI 8.5 leak also showed the design changes that Samsung's stock apps will undergo. It was also reported that the company will abandon the option of backing up photos to Microsoft OneDrive in this version of the system.
