New images and specs of Samsung's XR device, codenamed Project Moohan, have surfaced in a major leak from Android Headlines. The handset will launch as the Galaxy XR and will be the company's first device to run Android XR.

The Galaxy XR will feature two 4K micro-OLED displays with a pixel density of 4032 ppi and a total resolution of 29 million pixels. Inside, the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, developed jointly with Qualcomm and Google, will be installed. The headset will support full eye, hand and voice tracking using six front-facing cameras, depth sensors, microphones and infrared sensors.

One UI XR will feature Samsung and Google apps, including Chrome, YouTube, Maps, Photos, Play Store, and Netflix. Users will be able to control the system via voice, gestures, or controllers with analog sticks and six degrees of freedom (6DoF), a technology that allows for precise tracking of the user's position in space, not only by rotation, but also by movement forward, backward, left, right, up, and down.

The Galaxy XR will weigh 545g and feature an adjustable headband with soft cushions. It will feature built-in speakers with surround sound and a two-way system (woofer and tweeter). The device will be able to last up to 2 hours with active use or up to 2.5 hours while playing video.

The price and exact launch date have not yet been announced. In its second-quarter report, Samsung confirmed plans to release the headset by the end of 2025. Rumors suggest that it could cost around $1,700–2,800.
