OpenAI says the company’s annual recurring revenue (ARR), which is the amount of money a subscription business makes each year, is $10 billion. This estimate is driven by ChatGPT’s robust growth, CNBC reports.
This figure includes sales of the company's consumer products, ChatGPT business products, and its API. However, an OpenAI spokesperson noted that this figure does not include licensing revenue from Microsoft and large one-time deals.
The company's forecasts are quite optimistic, as in 2024 the company's revenue amounted to about $5.5 billion, and OpenAI's losses amounted to about $5 billion. At the same time, the company's valuation exceeds its revenues many times over, although the ChatGPT manufacturer plans to reach $125 billion in revenue by 2029.
Earlier this year, OpenAI also closed a $40 billion funding round, the largest such deal in history. However, the company will not receive the funds immediately, as one of the conditions was to go commercial. It is currently unknown how the company's decision to abandon such plans will affect this.
As of the end of March, OpenAI said it was supporting 500 million weekly active users. Earlier this month, the company announced it had three million paid business users, up from two million it reported in February.
