NVIDIA has captured 94% of the discrete graphics card market

Analytical agency Jon Pedie Research (JPR) has published a report on the state of the PC discrete graphics market for the second quarter of 2025. During the specified period, partners of key GPU developers shipped about 11.6 million devices, exceeding the figures of Q1 2025 by 27%. NVIDIA managed to strengthen its positions once again, increasing its share to 94%. This is a historical maximum.

This is rather disappointing news for AMD, whose share has dropped from 8% to 6% over the period. Even despite the release of the successful Radeon RX 9000 line and the corresponding surge in user interest, the developer continues to suffer losses.

Recall that the older models of the new series - Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB and Radeon RX 9070 16 GB - were introduced in early March, while the Radeon RX 9060 XT appeared only in June, so accordingly they did not get into the statistics for Q2 2025. Wider availability and variety of models should help the company change the current trend and, at least, regain what was lost over the last few quarters. At least the flagship of the series and the RX 9060 XT with 16 GB of memory are already in the TOP 10 most popular video cards in Ukraine.

In the current generation of desktop graphics, AMD has abandoned its rivalry with NVIDIA in the ultimate segment in favor of more affordable graphics cards. This strategy was chosen precisely to improve the situation and increase market share. However, the original goal has not yet been achieved.

The chart also shows Intel's performance. Unfortunately, the company is not able to become a full-fledged "third player" in this segment. Despite a good start, when the company's share in the discrete graphics niche increased to 4% (Q1 2023), it quickly decreased and by the end of Q1/Q2 2025 did not even reach 1%. Intel Arc B580 12 GB and Intel Arc B570 10 GB are interesting and competitive models in their class, however, the company's range clearly lacks more productive solutions and attracting a wider range of AIB partners.
