NVIDIA has officially announced its intention to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI to create an artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The bulk of the investment will be directed towards the construction of data centers with a total capacity of 10 gigawatts, which will help train and implement new generations of OpenAI AI models.

NVIDIA will allocate funds gradually - the first $10 billion will arrive with the launch of the first gigawatt of capacity, and further funding will depend on the development of the project.

The first phase of the infrastructure is planned to be put into operation in the second half of 2026. The new centers will operate on the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform, which promises significant progress over the current Blackwell technology.

Under the terms of the partnership, NVIDIA will receive a stake in OpenAI, which emphasizes the strategic nature of this collaboration. Computing infrastructure, as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman emphasized, will become the foundation of the economy of the future, and artificial intelligence will be the engine of business and social transformations.

The announcement has already led to a significant increase in the value of NVIDIA shares, as well as strengthened the company's position in global markets.

Experts note that such a project can change the balance of power in the industry and set a new pace for the development of AI.

Recall that NVIDIA also recently entered into a partnership with Intel and announced an investment of $5 billion.
