Netflix has announced the release date for the fourth season of The Witcher — the premiere will take place on October 30, 2025. Along with the announcement, the company showed a new trailer, which for the first time introduced Liam Hemsworth in more detail as Geralt of Rivia.
The actor will replace Henry Cavill, who played the character in the first three seasons. The change has sparked heated debate among fans, but a new video gives us a glimpse into Hemsworth's appearance and voice in the iconic role.
The fourth season will pick up after the events of the third book in the saga and will focus on Geralt's journey as he regains his strength and forms his own group of allies. The new episodes will feature familiar characters from the books: Regis (played by Laurence Fishburne), Leo Bongart (Sharlto Copley), and Skellen (James Purefoy).
This season will be the penultimate in the series: Netflix has confirmed that the final two seasons will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski's last three books — Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and The Lady of the Lake. Filming for the fifth season has already begun, in order to conclude the story without major hiatuses.
In addition to the series, fans of The Witcher can look forward to other projects in the franchise. CD Projekt Red is working on The Witcher 4, which will be the beginning of a new saga, although its release date is not yet known. Netflix also plans to continue experimenting with spin-offs, despite the mixed reaction to the animated and additional series in the universe.
