Netflix's gaming division is going through a tough time. While the streaming platform is releasing its own games, like Thronglets from Black Mirror, other games that were available on smartphones are disappearing.
According to Engadget, the service will remove more than 20 games in July. Among the projects that will disappear from Netflix will be Hades and Monument Valley. Here is the full list:
- Battleship
- Braid, Anniversary Edition
- Carmen Sandiego
- CoComelon: Play with JJ
- Death's Door
- Diner Out: Merge Cafe
- Dumb Ways to Die
- Ghost Detective
- Hades
- Katana ZERO
- LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed
- Ludo King
- Monument Valley
- Monument Valley 2
- Monument Valley 3
- Rainbow Six: Siege
- Raji: An Ancient Epic
- SpongeBob: Bubble Pop FUN
- TED Tumblewords
- The Case of the Golden Idol
- The Rise of the Golden Idol
- Vineyard Valley
Some of the games, like the aforementioned Hades, will disappear immediately on July 1. Meanwhile, the removal of other projects will take place gradually over the next month, so there will be a little more time for them.
Recall that in November 2024, Netflix decided to abandon interactive shows and series, including the removal of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Instead, at the same time, the company announced that it would begin investing in artificial intelligence for game development.
Meanwhile, the streaming service itself is doing well. Earlier in June, Netflix reported that its ad-supported subscription plan now has more than 94 million monthly active users, up 20 million from November 2024.
