Microsoft wants to fix any existing performance issues or hangs in Windows 11 and is asking users of the operating system to allow them to collect logs to find the cause faster, The Verge reports.

In the latest Windows 11 preview build, Microsoft has introduced automatic performance log collection. This data will help identify the causes of slow system performance. Windows Insiders are encouraged to provide feedback on issues via the Feedback Hub.

This will potentially allow Microsoft to improve Windows 11 performance in future updates, including version 25H2, which is due to be released by the end of 2025 and fix certain issues with the system.

In addition to gathering feedback, Microsoft is also improving Windows 11 drivers by implementing new requirements. Starting with 25H2, driver certification will require static analysis, which should identify potential issues in the code before the drivers are released.

The company has previously released several updates that helped with performance, including speeding up the Task Manager, the notification menu, and some other elements.

This move by Microsoft is especially important given that support for the previous version of the operating system, Windows 10, is nearing its end and will stop completely in October 2025. Meanwhile, Windows 11 recently overtook Windows 10 in market share for the first time. Improving the system's performance could help with this even more.
