Microsoft has announced a new round of layoffs that will affect 3% of its workforce worldwide and across all teams. With a total workforce of about 228,000, this means the dismissal of approximately 7,000 employees. This is reported by NBC News.
"We continue to implement organizational changes necessary to best position the company for success in a dynamic marketplace," a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement to the media.
Another goal of the new layoffs, as described by a company spokesperson, is to reduce the number of management levels.
The new cuts come even as the company's earnings for the latest quarter beat expectations, with revenue of $70.1 billion and net income of $25.8 billion over the past three months.
The company also conducted massive layoffs in 2023, laying off about 11,000 employees. In January, Microsoft also announced layoffs, which at that time were based on employee productivity.
