Microsoft has started testing improvements to the dark theme in Windows 11. In the new preview build of the system, the copy, move, and delete files windows have received support for dark mode - previously they always remained light, as reported by Windows researcher Phantomofearth.
The changes are partial at the moment: buttons in some dialogs are still displayed in a light style. In addition, many system elements still remain unadapted, including the Control Panel, the Run window, and file properties.
Incidentally, the dark mode feature first appeared in Windows 10 back in 2016, but even after almost a decade, it remains incomplete and underdeveloped. For example, the dark theme in File Explorer only appeared a few years after the launch of Windows 10.
Microsoft has not yet officially announced a dark theme update, but such gradual changes may indicate the preparation of a larger redesign expected in Windows 11 25H2.
