The main problems of modern electric cars are a short range and a long charging time. The Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept proved that these limitations can be overcome by setting 25 endurance records at once.

In 24 hours, the car traveled 5479 km, exceeding the previous record of XPeng P7 by 1518 km. The car moved almost non-stop at a speed of almost 299 km/h, making only short pauses for ultra-fast charging. The secret of success is the ability to charge with a power of 850 kW, which is more than twice the performance of modern fast chargers. This allows you to add about 400 km of range in five minutes.

The race featured 17 drivers, including Formula 1 star George Russell. They changed every two hours to keep the car moving. After setting the daily record, the team didn’t stop: two GT XXs covered over 40,000 km in 7 days and 13 hours, the equivalent of the length of the Earth’s equator, finishing with a difference of just two laps.

The GT XX is equipped with three Yasa axial electric motors with a total power of over 1360 hp and an innovative battery with 800 V architecture. Each of the 3000 cells is directly cooled with special oil, which allows it to withstand extreme loads.

Although the GT XX is just a concept, it demonstrates technologies that could radically change the way we think about the future of electric vehicles.
