During State of Play, Sony announced that Marvel's Wolverine, a new superhero game from Insomniac Games, the developers of Marvel's Spider-Man, will be released on the PlayStation 5 console in the fall of 2026.
Despite Spider-Man and Wolverine being Marvel characters and both games being developed by the same studio, their styles are vastly different. The trailer shows off the many scenes of violence and gore that await players.
"Our Wolverine, AKA Logan, is played by actor Liam McIntyre who taps into the rage, pain, and nuances of this iconic character. In this story, he is on the hunt to uncover the secrets of a dark past that keeps eluding him. Unfortunately, in this world, he’ll have to dig his claws deep to pull any shred of information that may lead to answers. Often, that means shredding into a relentless onslaught of enemies who aim to stop him by any means necessary. Fueled by unflinching resilience (and a rapid healing factor), Wolverine won’t go down easy if it means keeping the mission on task," says Aaron Jason Espinoza, Senior Community Manager at Insomniac Games.
Insomniac Games says that Marvel's Wolverine will see Wolverine encounter several familiar characters on his journey, including Mystique and Omega Red. Some will help Logan, while others, like the hostile Reavers faction, will do everything they can to destroy him.
Marvel's Wolverine takes Wolverine to dangerous and exotic locations: the island nation of Madripoor, the snowy Canadian desert, and the narrow city streets of Tokyo. All of these places will become the scene of bloody battles.
