Mark Stephen Zuckerberg, a bankruptcy attorney from Indianapolis, USA, has filed a lawsuit against Meta and its founder Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, The Daily Beast reports. The lawsuit was filed because of repeated blocking of his Facebook pages for allegedly impersonating a celebrity and using a false name.
According to the lawyer, his professional Facebook page has been blocked 5 times in the last 8 years, which has resulted in financial losses in advertising costs. He told local TV station WTHR that he does not seek conflict with Meta, but sees no other way to stop these actions.
On his website IAmMarkZuckerberg.com, the lawyer described the difficulties associated with having a full name match with the famous entrepreneur. Among them are regular calls from people seeking Facebook technical support, and even threats.
In the lawsuit, he demands that Meta restore his accounts, provide guarantees against further blocking, and compensate for legal fees and lost advertising funds.
Despite the conflict, the lawyer maintains a certain irony: on his website, he promised to represent Mark Elliot Zuckerberg for free if he found himself penniless in Indiana.
In a statement to The Daily Beast, a Meta spokesperson said the lawyer’s account was restored after the error was discovered. The company thanked him for his patience and said it was working to prevent this from happening in the future.
