Logitech has introduced the Signature Slim Solar Plus K980 keyboard, which is charged by both sunlight and artificial light.

The model does not have a USB port or replaceable batteries - the energy is supplied by a solar panel with the new Logi LightCharge technology. According to the company, the battery will last up to 10 years, and in complete darkness the device will function for up to 4 months. By the way, the battery in the novelty can be replaced. Spare parts are supplied by iFixit.

The K980 keyboard is aimed at office use, with a full-size layout with a number pad and media and brightness control keys. The function keys can be programmed via the proprietary Logi Options Plus application - for example, the AI Launch key by default launches Copilot on Windows, but can be reprogrammed to Gemini, ChatGPT or another application. The Action Key (the big "O" in the top row) also supports macros via the application.

Other features include connectivity to up to three devices via Bluetooth and compatibility with Windows and macOS. Two variations will be available: a universal (for Windows and macOS) and a macOS-only model.

There are no separate lighting indicators on the keyboard, as in previous models. Now you can check the light level in the Logi Options Plus app. On the keyboard itself, only the main LED changes color - for example, from green to red if there is not enough light.

As for the disadvantages, the keyboard does not have backlighting, but this allows you to significantly save energy.

The Logitech Signature Slim Solar Plus K980 is now available for purchase for $99.
