LG to help Kia integrate streaming services into European cars
LG has announced that its webOS-based Automotive Content Platform (ACP) will add streaming to new European Kia models, making its debut in the recently unveiled EV3 electric crossover.
The company says that ACP will also be featured in the upcoming EV4 and EV5, as well as the new Kia Sportage. LG notes that this collaboration marks the expansion of the company's innovation expertise to the European market, following its successful introduction in Korea.
Powered by webOS, already used in more than 240 million LG Smart TVs worldwide, ACP is optimized for cars and offers instant access to a wide range of content and services specifically tailored for the in-car environment.
Kia will offer a variety of entertainment content from services such as Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, LG Channels and more. Later, the library will be expanded to include Rakuten TV, Napster and German OTT service Joyn. Streaming services will only be available when the car is parked.
