Eight years after LEGO set a record with the 7,541-piece Millennium Falcon for $800, the company is releasing its first $1,000 set — the Death Star.
The Death Star is 52.3 cm high, 48 cm wide and over 38 cm deep. This is not a classic sphere, but a vertical section that recreates key scenes from Star Wars. There is a hangar with an Imperial shuttle, a garbage compactor, an escape from AA-23, a control room with R2-D2 and C-3PO, as well as a throne room for Luke's final duel with Darth Vader and the Emperor.
The set has 9,023 pieces. It includes 38 minifigures, including several versions of Luke and Han, as well as a humorous Easter egg — a stormtrooper in a jacuzzi.
The new product will be available from October 1, 2025 for Lego Insiders members, and from October 4 for everyone else. The first buyers will receive a bonus set with a Tie Fighter.
Although the Death Star is not the largest LEGO set in terms of number of parts, it set a record for price and number of minifigures.
