Japanese band Kroi shot a music video for their new song Method using 40 iPhone 16 Pros. The video was not only part of the band's promotional campaign, but also a demonstration of the capabilities of mobile filming. The total cost of the equipment is about $40,000. Apple Insider writes about this.
The smartphones were positioned at various angles: above the stage, on the walls, on the musical instruments, and directly in front of the band members. Some iPhones were mounted on the guitar and keyboards, while others were pointed vertically down from the ceiling. This resulted in a dynamic multi-angle shot with unusual angles — from instrument level to a panorama of the stage from above.
Apple joined in promoting the clip: the company's senior vice president of marketing, Greg Jozwiak, shared a short video about the creation of the clip on X. It shows exactly how the smartphones were set up for simultaneous filming, as well as the editing and staging process.
At the time of publication, the video has received over 5.1 million views. According to Spotify, the band has about 265,000 monthly listeners.
Kroi are known for their multi-genre approach — the band's music combines elements of funk, soul, rhythm and blues, pop, and hip-hop. They actively experiment with both sound and visuals.
By the way, the idea of shooting a video clip on multiple iPhones is not new to the industry. Previously, in the film 28 Years Later, a special setup with an iPhone 15 Pro Max was used for one frame.
