Google announced at its Made by Google event a new feature in Google Photos that allows you to edit photos using voice or text commands. The "edit by asking" feature is powered by Gemini, TechCrunch reports.
Users will be able to describe the desired changes in colloquial language, such as "remove cars in the background" or "restore an old photo." The service also offers automatic image enhancement upon request "make it better" and supports further refinements.
In addition to basic adjustments like changing lighting or removing objects, the tool allows you to perform creative tasks, such as adding glasses or a holiday hat to a photo.
Google Photos is also implementing the C2PA Content Credentials standard, which indicates how an image was created and whether AI was used. Support will first appear on the Pixel 10 in the US, and later on other Android devices and iOS.
As a reminder, at the Made by Google presentation, the company also introduced a new generation of Pixel smartphones, namely the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which became the first foldable smartphone with protection against water and dust. Also presented were the Pixel Buds 2a headphones with ANC, Gemini and replaceable batteries, and the Pixel Watch 4 smartwatch with an enlarged display and integrated Gemini, which replaced Google Assistant.
