Google is focusing on developing the Pixel line and is not planning to release new categories of devices yet. In comments to Bloomberg, company representatives confirmed that Google is not working on smart rings, flip smartphones, and has no plans to resume tablet development anytime soon.

In particular, the head of the device division, Rick Osterloh, explained that the company does not see the point in rushing into tablets until it has identified a new format and functionality that could give the category a future. As for flip smartphones, Google is not going to compete with Samsung and Motorola in this segment. The company is focused on its own Pixel Fold series and does not see the need to expand the model range.

As for the glasses, which Google has repeatedly shown off as prototypes, there is no final decision on release yet. Osterloh said that the direction of XR devices will continue to develop, but likely in partnership with other manufacturers, rather than Google itself.

In addition, Google's design team noted that the company reviews the appearance of Pixel smartphones every two to three years, so significant changes are possible in future models.

Recall that Google recently held a presentation where it introduced a new generation of Pixel smartphones, namely Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The Pixel Buds 2a headphones and the Pixel Watch 4 smartwatch were also presented.
