The US Supreme Court has rejected Google's request for a temporary stay of execution of the judgment in the case against Epic Games. The company must comply with the court's requirements by October 22, 2025, The Verge reports.

The ruling leaves in place a permanent injunction requiring Google to open Android to third-party payment systems and app stores. Specifically, the company must allow developers to set their own prices, inform users about alternative payment methods, and link to download sources outside of Google Play.

Epic Games said that after October 22, developers in the US will be able to legally offer payments outside of Google Play without additional fees or warnings. At the same time, Google said that it would fulfill its legal obligations, but would continue to appeal the decision in the Supreme Court.

The company has until October 27 to file an appeal, after complying with the court's requirements. District Court Judge James Donato has summoned Google and Epic to a hearing on October 30 to review how the companies are complying with the injunction.

Recall that Epic Games recently reported that the new installation screen on iOS contributed to the growth of Epic Games Store downloads, but the situation on Android remains difficult.
