Google, on the eve of its annual developer conference, has begun demonstrating its new AI agent for software development to both its own employees and external developers, Reuters reports.
The new agent can support software engineers at all stages of development, from initial problem solving to documenting the code, according to three people who saw the demonstration or heard about it from Googlers.
One of the main motivators for the company in creating such tools is pressure from investors who expect to see a return on Google's billion-dollar investments in a new field.
In addition to the AI agent, Google may introduce the integration of the Gemini chatbot voice mode into smart glasses and a headset on the Android XR platform at its I/O conference, which will be held on May 20, 2025 in Mountain View, California. The company has previously shown a similar device.
